Attention all anglers!
It’s that time of year again when the snow begins to melt, the sun starts shining and the fishing season opens on the Bighorn River in Montana. This year, Cottonwood Camp is thrilled to announce that we will be open for business from April 15th for the entire season, offering anglers an unforgettable experience in the heart of Montana.
Cottonwood Camp is located just a few miles from Fort Smith, Montana, making it an easy and convenient spot for local residents and tourists alike. With a 90-minute drive from Billings, (the nearest airport), anglers can easily access our elevated camp experience with cabins, glamping, and tradiotnal camp and full hook yup RV sites. Enjoy a weekend–or even a whole week–of world-class fishing on the Bighorn River.
The Bighorn River is famous for its brown and rainbow trout, which are known to grow to trophy size in these waters. Brown trout can grow up to 20 inches, while rainbow trout can reach up to 16 inches, making them a popular target for anglers looking for a challenge. With over 5,000 fish per mile on this river, anglers are bound to find an abundance of fish, making it one of the most productive trout rivers in the US.
The Bighorn River is known for its perfect fishing conditions, offering anglers a unique and challenging experience. The river is a tailwater, meaning it is fed by a large dam and the water temperature is constant year-round, making it an ideal spot for fishing throughout the season. Anglers can expect to find a range of fishing conditions from riffles to deep pools, providing opportunities to target fish in different habitats.
We believe that every angler deserves to have the best possible fishing experience, which is why we offer all-inclusive packages. Our packages include everything you need for a successful fishing trip, from lodging to meals, boat rentals, guided fishing trips, a full service fly shop, and activities galore; like axe throwing, casting golf, fly tying lessons and more.
