Date: May 22, 2021
Flows: 1960 CFS
Water Temp: 43 F
Flows have dropped to 2000 CFS but the fish don’t seem to mind.
It’s that time of year again for the rainbow spawn! So please be mindful of the spawn and stay off the reds. Try avoiding the clear patches of gravel and let these fish reproduce.
Dry fly fishing is starting to make its presence. Small pods of fish and single sippers are around in the early evening, but they are looking for the best fly, so patience is key. Making the presentation of your Baetis or midge fly look delectable will land you some nice fish. 😉
Nymphing is good all over the river. Flies like the Ray Charles, Softhackle Sowbugs, Carpet Bugs, Wondernymphs, Skinny Nelson’s, or Quill Nymphs, and Jelly Beans are just a few to name that are being successful as of late.
Weather permitting the fishing is good. Of course some days are better than others.
You can make it happen on streamers with a nice sink tip on a cloudy day.
